A number of Connecticut breweries took home medals, a few of them gold, from last Friday’s 16th Annual Great International Beer and Cider Competition in Providence, R.I.
No, it isn’t the Great American Beer Festival, but these medals don’t come easily and our state’s breweries were up against some legitimate competition! For example, Thomas Hooker took down both Samuel Adams and Epic Brewing in the doublebock category. Also of note is a gold medal for newcomers Back East Brewing for its gold medal win in the brown porter category (and its bronze in the American amber category). Cavalry also beat out Rogue in the American brown ale category!
